Implemented in 1975 as a playground track and field meet, the Hershey Youth Program has become the largest youth sports program of its kind in North America.  Over 400,000 children participate in the program yearly, representing over 3,000 communities across the country.  Hershey's Track & Field Youth Program is sponsored by the President's Council on Physical Fitness & Sports, the National Recreation and Park Association, and the National Association for Sport & Physical Education. 

Howard County Recreation and Parks is proud to sponsor the local qualifying event for Hershey Track and Field.

  After 1:30pm Friday, 4/29 pre-registration will be closed. Registrations will be accepted on site beginning at Noon on Sunday.

The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks sponsors the LOCAL level meet.  

First and Second place finishers of the local level are eligible to compete at the State meet. 

This meet is designed to encourage physical fitness among youth and emphasize participation and sportsmanship. 
RULE HIGHLIGHTS

  Only restriction for participation is age. A participants age is as of December 31, 2005.

9 & 10 yr olds - Born 1995 & 1996
11 & 12 yr olds - Born 1993 & 1994
13 & 14 yr olds - Born 1991 & 1992

No exceptions for age brackets - per Official Hershey Track and Field Rules.

Track Spikes are prohibited

Starting blocks are prohibited

Participants may only compete in three events. Two running events and a field event; or two field events and a running event. A participant may not compete in three running events.
